Pegasus Ultimate v2 review

Description of problem: Astrophotography requires utilizing potentially several different instruments such as camera, mount, focuser, dew heater, etc all of which require power and/or USB connection.
This results in several cables that have to be managed. Those cables have a tendency of getting tangled or catch on the equipment.
The Pegasus Ultimate Powerbox v2 solves the problem of all of those dangling cables by providing a single source for all of those cables which can be mounted directly to the telescope.
Attaching the Powerbox to your telescope mount minimizes cable tangle and eliminates potential for cables to snag during mount movement.
It should be noted that the Ultimate Powerbox v2 has been replaced with the Ultimate Powerbox v3.

Description of equipment: The Pegasus Ultimate v2 is a small self contained assembly which provides 12 VDC power to up to 4 devices, USB3.1 hub with 4 ports, a USB2 hub with 2 ports, 3 dew heaters, an embedded stepper motor controller, and a temperature/humidity sensor.

It is ASCOM compliant so it can be utilzed with Sequence Generator Pro.

How used: Mount the Ultimate Powerbox v2 to your telescope mount.
The Pegasus Ultimate Powerbox v2 does require 12VDC power supply with an XT60 connector. Pegasus sells a separate power supply with the XT60 connector.
Attach 12 VDC power supply.
Attached USB cable from your computer to your Powerbox
Attach all USB, dew heater and 12VDC power cables from your devices to the Powerbox.
I use cable ties to keep all of the cables together.
The 'Unity Platform' software then controls all of the power, USB, and dew heaters.

Operation: I utilize the Pegasus Ultimate Powerbox v2 whenever I am imaging.
My system consists of an iOptron CEM120 mount, a Celestron Edge 11 inch SCT telescope, a Stellarvue 130mm refractor, a Stellarvue 90mm refractor, three Optec focusers (one for each telescope), A ZWO ASI2600m camera with a ZWO 7 position filter wheel, a Pegasus camera rotator, three dew heaters, and a ZWO ASI290m camera for autoguidng.
The mount and the ZWO ASI2600m connect directly to my computer and everything else connects to the Powerbox.
After turing on my computer I immediately run the 'Unity Platform' software and select the Ultimate Powerbox icon . This provides the USB interface and power to all the devices.
I use Sequence Generato Pro to manage all of my equipment and provide environmental data (temperature, humidity, and dew point). Go to the 'Environment' tab and select the Pegasus Powerbox.

Support: I have had the Ultimate Powerbox v2 for several years and the only problem I have had is replacement of the thermal/humidity sensor.
It should also be noted that Pegasus routinely updates its 'Unity Platform' software and notifies all users of the updates.
